    Hephaestus Tool Company

Hephaestus was exiled from the Gods due to his attention to non-conformity. Cast upon the earth to a volcanic island and injured in the process, Hephaestus used his surroundings to unleash his creativity. He began working with the earth to design and forge tools, including innovative Hephaestus tools that would aid in the masonry industry, such as the Feather and Wedge, along with various art and mechanical devices for everyone to use.

      Instructions:

      Bore holes

Mark & drill your holes in a line roughly 4 to 6 inches apart, using either an 11/16" or 18mm rotary bit, to a depth of no less than  4.25". Insert the pins in the clean hole in open or long position, with ears facing 90 degrees to the line (outward). Set the pins with a hammer, tapping them in until they are snug, and begin to change in pitch. Start on one end, and strike the wedge increasing the pitch in sound to the next frequency, and follow each wedge down the line. Repeat the process until the rock splits. Aggressive abuse to one or 2 out of sequence may result in premature damage to these products.

      Casted material

This product is a high strength investment casting, or "lost wax casting". Being a casted material, some invisible imperfections may be present in the core, and could potentially break pre-maturely. In this case, please email our "contact us" button atop, and we will promptly send you a replacement component. Please provide a photo and description of the failed unit. Aggressive misuse of this product can not be warrantied, but sometimes stuff happens beyond our control. As long as they are treated with respect they should last dozens of cycles.

      Self-Adhering Drip Edge (EDPM Foam)

Diagram showing EPDM black material with double-sided tape and protective film.

We created the Drip Edge Foam to allow Masons to directly adhere a drip edge into the forms of chimney crowns, stair treads, and wall caps to eliminate the process of cutting them in later or battling rope/wood removal process.

The triangular rubber design incorporates (3) edges of water break lines, and allows an easier removal process. Each package comes with 16ft of foam.

      Instructions

Ensure the surface is clean from residue and debris, if the form has moisture content in it, or imperfections that cause the tape to not stick properly, a quick spray of spray-adhesive works great for priming the form to accept the foam. Cut the foam slightly longer than the edge you wish to install on past the defined edges. Cut the ends at 45 degrees with a knife in the corners, and repeat on any side you wish to have a drip edge. Ensure the foam is well adhered, pour your concrete, let it cure, and pull the foam after form removal.
