Hephaestus was exiled from the Gods due to his attention to non-conformity. Cast upon the earth to a volcanic island and injured in the process, Hephaestus used his surroundings to unleash his creativity. He began working with the earth to design and forge tools, including innovative Hephaestus tools that would aid in the masonry industry, such as the Feather and Wedge, along with various art and mechanical devices for everyone to use.
The founder of Hephaestus Tools has been in the masonry industry since 1997 working with brick, block, and stone. The appreciation of the art in masonry has always been the driving factor for all of us... the work is hard, but the beauty of what you have created with the earth will stand generations, which keeps our artisan drive going throughout generations of skilled tradesman. There are many amazing tools for these creators out there, we just wanted to add a couple more for our family of masons to utilize.
Our redesigned feather and wedge is high carbon steel alloy, precision casted, with CR/MO/NI additives, and heat treated to a BR hardness of 38, making them very durable for a casted component.
Design characteristics"
* Internal banding, keeping the bands protected inside the bore hole.
*Interior rail guide system to prevent shifting.
* Dual wedge design, allowing a deeper and even expansion.
Mark & drill your holes in a line roughly 4 to 6 inches apart, using either an 11/16" or 18mm rotary bit, to a depth of no less than 4.25". Insert the pins in the clean hole in open or long position, with ears facing 90 degrees to the line (outward). Set the pins with a hammer, tapping them in until they are snug, and begin to change in pitch. Start on one end, and strike the wedge increasing the pitch in sound to the next frequency, and follow each wedge down the line. Repeat the process until the rock splits. Aggressive abuse to one or 2 out of sequence may result in premature damage to these products.
This product is a high strength investment casting, or "lost wax casting". Being a casted material, some invisible imperfections may be present in the core, and could potentially break pre-maturely. In this case, please email our "contact us" button atop, and we will promptly send you a replacement component. Please provide a photo and description of the failed unit. Aggressive misuse of this product can not be warrantied, but sometimes stuff happens beyond our control. As long as they are treated with respect they should last dozens of cycles.
We created the Drip Edge Foam to allow Masons to directly adhere a drip edge into the forms of chimney crowns, stair treads, and wall caps to eliminate the process of cutting them in later or battling rope/wood removal process.
The triangular rubber design incorporates (3) edges of water break lines, and allows an easier removal process. Each package comes with 16ft of foam.
Ensure the surface is clean from residue and debris, if the form has moisture content in it, or imperfections that cause the tape to not stick properly, a quick spray of spray-adhesive works great for priming the form to accept the foam. Cut the foam slightly longer than the edge you wish to install on past the defined edges. Cut the ends at 45 degrees with a knife in the corners, and repeat on any side you wish to have a drip edge. Ensure the foam is well adhered, pour your concrete, let it cure, and pull the foam after form removal.
Each package comes with 16' of drip edge, larger orders can be customized by emailing Hephaestus.tool.co@gmail.com
